Carthage, the great Phoenician city in North Africa, emerged as a dominant naval and commercial power in the western Mediterranean during the 4th century BC.  Its coinage reflects a blend of Punic culture and Hellenistic artistry, issued in electrum to support its expansive trade networks.


 Obverse: Head of Tanit facing left, adorned with a wreath of grain ears, triple-pendant earring, and a necklace with nine pendants.


 Reverse: Majestic horse standing right, symbol of Carthaginian strength and vitality.
